I currently try to go with my dad to his treatments and I think its been really good. Sometimes he lets me know when he wants to go alone and I try my best to respect that. Usually when I’m there we play cards or try to find a new show to watch. There are good days though and there are bad. I do understand why your dad might not want you to go – sometimes chemo flies by and others it is a tough road with complications, nausea and many other miserable side effects. Also, it can be tough being surrounded by other ill cancer patients. You see some people who look wonderful but you also may catch a glimpse of a very frail, sick person who can make you worry if that will be your dad one day.
All that being said, all you can do is ask and explain to your dad what you want and what you’re thinking! Give it a shot!
